The NFL, federal and local law enforcement held a news conference on Tuesday afternoon, where they went into more detail about public safety plans they’ve spent years crafting.
Officials said they’re boh excited and anxious about Draft day, and security remains a top priority.
Per the FBI, there are no known or credible threats to the NFL Draft at this time.
Still fans should expect a large law enforcement presence on the ground, in uniforms and undercover.
Security drones will be in the air and police boats in the water near the Draft zone.
Information is also an important aspect of the safety plan. The FBI said there are three distinct areas where personnel will be in command posts to be able to use global connections.
“At the tactical level, your federal agents, I know ATF is here, I know FBI agents are going to literally stand in shoulder to shoulder on coast guard cutters, on boats, on the streets, and monitoring drone activity so there’s no delay in information when an FBI agent is standing next to a Pennsylvania State Trooper or city officer,” Special Agent in Charge Richard Evanchec said.
Because of large crowds, law enforcement say fans should be prepared for temporary pauses in entry because they may have to redirect people to other entrances to maintain control.
Cathy Lanier, chief security officer for the NFL reminded people to check their smaller personal items because a lot of them may not be allowed.
“Some things that you might not expect such as inflated footballs.” Cathy Lanier said. “If you want to get something signed, it must be uninflated. This is a live show, so obviously, we don’t want anything that could disrupt the show.”
