DELMONT, Pa. — A massive tractor-trailer carrying more than 380 tons of equipment made its way through Delmont on Wednesday, slowing traffic but drawing plenty of curious onlookers.

The more than 200-foot-long “superload” traveled no faster than 15 miles per hour as it crept down Route 66.
For some drivers, the slow-moving trip was a nuisance. But for Andrew Beal, who happened to come across it in Delmont, it was a memorable sight.
“My father drove trucks for 40 years,” Beal said. “My father is my hero. Just to see that was awesome.”
Channel 11 brought the truck’s trip through the area live just after 5:30 p.m.
John and Laurie Eveland waited along Route 66 for more than an hour to watch it pass.
“I don’t think people were that excited since probably the 1700s when the buggies rolled through,” John Eveland joked.
Laurie Eveland said they had been tracking the truck’s progress for much of the day.
“We watched it all day, coming down from the terminal, and that took a long time,” she said.
The truck navigated difficult turns through Leechburg and Apollo before passing through Delmont.
It is headed to the Homer City area, where the equipment is expected to be used for a new power plant and data center project.
And viewers may get another chance to see a superload soon.
“They’re going to have like 50 more trips, so we’re going to be out here,” Laurie Eveland said.
More than 50 trucks are scheduled to travel through the same route from now until January 2027.
