PITTSBURGH — Much of the area got a good soaking rain this morning, and additional showers and isolated storms are expected this afternoon. The areas most affected will be south of Pittsburgh, with one or two brief strong storms possible.

Rain will exit south of our viewing area this evening, with a quiet Thursday ahead. The next front will sweep through Friday, bringing waves of showers and the potential for some heavier rain around midday. Winds will pick up and could gust as high as 30 or 40mph during the afternoon.

Colder air will pour in Friday night. Any leftover showers Saturday morning may mix with some wet flakes for areas along/north of I-80 and into the ridges. Otherwise, we’ll see drying conditions but temperatures that will struggle to get out of the 40s for much of the area!

With clearing skies and calming winds, a widespread frost and freeze is expected Sunday morning with low temperatures in the upper 20s to low 30s. The good news is we’ll see lots of sunshine early next week with highs that will rebound a little above average into the mid to upper 60s!
