Thousands without power amid high winds in Pittsburgh area

PITTSBURGH — Channel 11 Meteorologist Adis Juklo just reported a wind gust of 54 mph in Pittsburgh.

At the same time, thousands of households are without electricity in our area.

As of 4:20 p.m., Duquesne Light Co. reports more than 9,300 customers without power between Allegheny and Beaver counties. More than 2,200 of those are in the 15236 area code alone.

Also, FirstEnergy reports more than 6,000 customers without power.

Here are those numbers by county:

  • Allegheny County - 272
  • Armstrong County - 999
  • Beaver County - 30
  • Butler County - 1,086
  • Greene County - 248
  • Lawrence County - 183
  • Mercer County - 380
  • Washington County - 1,363
  • Westmoreland County - 1,444
