GREENSBURG — Police charged two men following a downtown Greensburg shooting late last month.

Police say both men are accused of firing guns at each other, and hit an innocent man in the process.

Evan Curley had to be arraigned from the backseat of a deputy’s car Wednesday because he was unable to walk after being shot in each leg late last month outside the Rialto bar.

Curley was arraigned just 20 feet from the scene of the crime. “It was believed his family was making arrangements for him to exit the state possibly toward Detroit; he had no ties to this area,” Greensburg interim police chief Shawn Denning said.

Police said Curley exchanged gunfire with another man who investigators say was waiting for him outside the bar.

Eight shots were fired between the two men, police said. Two rounds hit Curley, one hit an innocent bystander and another became lodged in a courthouse window.”[They] had retrieved the gun at some point and whether they waited for him to come out for that gun battle to happen… Mr. Curley is not an innocent victim, it was definitely a mutual combat out in the street,” Denning said.

Police are still looking for the other alleged shooter, Stevin German.

Surveillance video showed German and Curley get into an argument inside the bar before the shooting took place outside, according to police.

”There are cameras and surveillance all through that area. There was a lot of people in the area where it occurred, placing a lot of people in danger,” Denning said.German is said to be from the Uniontown area and allegedly has gang ties.

Police believe he is dangerous.

”We encourage Mr. German to safely turn himself in because it’s been determined the law enforcement officers and the sheriffs deputies, they’re undefeated at hide and seek,” Denning said.

Both men are charged with attempted homicide.

Curley was taken to jail and denied bond.
