Tesla's Model 3 isn't just the safest vehicle on the roads now -- it's the safest ever, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
The Model 3 achieved a perfect five-star rating in every category in recent crash tests conducted by the NHTSA. The agency's testing data showed the car has the lowest probability of injury of any car ever tested.
The company shared the results in a blog post over the weekend.
The test was part of the administration's new car assessment program. It tests the likelihood of serious bodily injury from front, side, and rollover crashes. While the crash data is open to the public on the agency's website, NHTSA does not distinguish safety performance beyond their star rating system and released a statement in reaction to Tesla's claim.

Tesla's Model S and Model X hold second and third place, according to the company's interpretation of the crash test data, making Tesla the highest rated car company by the NHTSA.
