BRENTWOOD, Pa. — The Brentwood Borough Community Pool is in desperate need of a renovation, but the cost of the work is high.

The cost is so high that this could be the last summer the pool opens.

The facility in the borough’s central park area is about 50 years old and needs a new liner, decking and pipe repairs, and more. Those repairs are more cosmetic, but the bath house next door needs to be fixed for safety reasons, officials said.

That is why officials are asking the community for opinions on the pool's future.

The total cost of the renovations will be over $1 million, according to officials. Grant money is a possibility, but it probably won't be enough to cover all of the costs.

A public meeting on its future will be held at the end of June. If they do decide to begin repairs, the pool would be closed next summer.
