WESTMORELAND COUNTY, Pa. — The pastor and members of the Mount Nebo Independent Community Church are concerned about vandalism and the person(s) responsible.

“You think right off the bat, ‘Why?’ And the only thing I can figure out is that somebody doesn’t have God in their life,” said Pastor Greg Butler.

Butler said he was shocked when he walked inside the church and saw broken glass all over the floor. He looked up and found holes in the windows.

“Luckily they didn’t throw nothing through. They must have hit it with something. But the Jesus figurine was still on there and the cross was still on there as well. They didn’t fall,” Butler said.

“That’s what touched me the most, that they would come to the house of God and do something like this. It hit me hard,” said JNS Towing truck operator Gregg Thompson.

The owners of JNS Towing came up with an idea after hearing about the vandalism.

“I mean it’s a church and as a Christian, you feel like you should do something good for the community,” owner Crystal Conde said.

While no items were stolen from the church, JNS Towing put up $500 in reward money for information that leads to an arrest and conviction for whoever was responsible.

Butler said this has a deeper meaning.

“I just feel like you better get right with the Lord. If you don’t have God in your life, you have a problem. Turn it over to Jesus because he’s the one who died for every one of us,” he said.
