MONROEVILLE, Pa. — One of six people charged in an April 2019 fight and shooting at the Monroeville Mall was sentenced to prison Thursday.

Brandon Noel, 23, pleaded guilty in November 2020 to aggravated assault. In exchange for that plea, the Allegheny County District Attorney’s Office agreed to withdraw all other charges, including attempted homicide.

The shooting followed a fight involving two groups from McKeesport that started inside the mall and spilled into the Macy’s. One of the groups ended up outside, at which point Noel fired 14 shots, authorities said.

No one was hurt in the shooting, but there was damage to the outside of the Macy’s.

On Thursday, Noel was sentenced to serve 2 1/2 to 5 years in a state penitentiary, plus seven years of probation, for his involvement. He was also ordered to have no contact with Monroeville Mall.
