Murder arrest made after home surrounded in New Castle

NEW CASTLE, Pa. — A teenager was arrested in the murder of a 21-year-old man in New Castle, police announced early Tuesday morning.

Daniel Tweedlie, 18, was captured just after midnight, authorities said. Police officers and members of the Lawrence County Critical Incident Response Team surrounded a home on McCleary Avenue and arrested him.

Tweedlie is accused of killing Devon Thompson, of Beaver Falls, on Oct. 24 along Leasure Avenue in the city of New Castle.

Tweedlie was taken to the Lawrence County Jail. He is charged with criminal homicide and possession of a firearm with the manufacturer number altered.

Investigators said people who might have helped Tweedlie while he was wanted could face charges.
