PITTSBURGH — Nearly two years after surviving being shot during the Tree of Life synagogue shooting in Pittsburgh’s Squirrel Hill neighborhood, Officer Timothy Matson returned to work Monday.
Matson was hurt during the Oct. 27, 2018, shooting that took the lives of 11 people. He was one of four law enforcement officers wounded.
Tree of Life shared the news of Matson’s return to work on Facebook.
“We can never thank you enough for your service and we are so pleased to see you back on the job,” the Facebook post said.

“Matson said from day one that he would be back. He’s worked extremely hard over the last two years to make this a reality and we couldn’t be prouder or more thankful to Tim and all who stood by his side during this incredible journey. If anyone was going to do this, after everything he’s been through, I knew he could,” said Police Chief Scott Schubert.
