The theft didn't wipe out their life savings, but one of the victims told Channel 11 it hurt them financially and emotionally because they trusted the women.

The suspects worked as in-home nurses aT the Mishkins' home in Squirrel Hill.

"I hope no one ever has to go through what Allen and I went through. They just turned our life upside down completely," Deborah Mishkin said. "I've been trying to figure it out for two years."

Police say the pair of home health care workers stole, then forged, thousands of dollars worth of checks on the personal bank accounts of Deborah and her brother Allen, then cashing them.

Ciprian pleaded guilty in November and was sentenced to five years’ probation and paying back the $4,000 she had stolen. The Mishkins said so far, they haven't seen any of that money.

Court documents obtained by Channel 11 show that in June and July of 2016, Holmes was accused of cashing forged checks for more than $2,000.
