Woman charged with trying to run daughter over with car due in court

BUTLER, Pa. — A Butler woman accused of trying to run over her own daughter with her car is due in court Monday.

Shelly Godfrey will be in front of a judge for a preliminary hearing.

Butler police told Channel 11 a fight led to Godfrey gunning her car at a group of people outside a home on March 4.

A group of people were inside West Brady Street home when police say Godfrey began fighting with a man.

Godfrey was told to leave. That's when police said Godfrey got into her car and took off down the street at a fast rate of speed, nearly clipping a police cruiser before he pulled her over and arrested her.
