PITTSBURGH — The Steelers are two weeks away from the season opener against the Colts, and the Steelers defense is looking for another stellar year.

Bud Dupree talked with members of the media Monday and the conversation turned to his status in 2020. He signed his franchise tag on the day of this year’s NFL Draft, meaning he’ll be paid close to $16 million this season.

“I’m in the driver’s seat of my career right now. I will go out and play the best that I can play, and everything will be in its place by the end of the year. I will be able to control my own destiny,” Dupree said.

Dupree filed a franchise tag grievance, and believes he should be labeled a defensive end, not a linebacker. The franchise tag on a defense end plays almost $2 million more.
