PITTSBURGH — Showers are already expanding in coverage this morning, with bands of heavy rain coming later. The heaviest rain is expected to fall from roughly 7 a.m. to noon, with localized amounts of 2 inches or more possible. Not everyone will see heavy rain, but flooding will be possible wherever any training of downpours occurs.
Flash Flood Warnings are in effect for:
- east-central Westmoreland, southeastern Armstrong, Indiana and southern Jefferson counties until 2:30 p.m.
- north-central Fayette, Westmoreland, southwestern Armstrong and southwestern Indiana counties until 2:15 p.m.
- Allegheny, western Fayette, northeastern Greene, central Washington and southwestern Westmoreland counties until 1 p.m.
- southern Clarion, east-central Armstrong and southwestern Jefferson counties until 1 p.m.
- central Greene and southwestern Washington counties until 12:45 p.m.
Steady rain will taper to spotty showers this afternoon, with a mainly dry night expected. Watch for areas of fog first things Friday morning; otherwise it should be a quieter day with lower humidity and highs in the upper 70s.
An incoming trough of low pressure will bring us another risk for scattered showers and storms this weekend, although most hours will be rain-free. Sunday appears to be the drier of the two days, with cooler and much less humid air settling in early next week.
Stay with Severe Weather Team 11 this morning as we track where the heaviest rain will set up.
