Students in the Pittsburgh area and across the country walked out of classes Friday, the 19th anniversary of the Columbine High School shooting.
Much like the March 14 nationwide school walkouts marking the 1-month anniversary of the Parkland school shooting, students on Friday demanded change to gun control laws.
STORY: 'National School Walkout’: Everything you need to know about Friday’s event
Friday’s “National School Walkout” started at 10 a.m., honoring the 13 people killed at Columbine High School in 1999.
Pittsburgh Creative and Performing Arts School students marched to Market Square, where they stood silent for 13 seconds -- one second for each of the Columbine victims.
In Beaver, students rallied at the county courthouse while carrying signs for gun reform and safer schools.
A number of other schools in western Pennsylvania RSVP’d to the national walkout.
