Arnold Palmer Regional Airport could soon be one step closer to bringing back commercial flights.
The airport secured $850,000 to help entice a new airline.

The airport’s executive director, Maurice Haas, says the goal is to get commercial flights returning to Arnold Palmer Regional Airport by the beginning of next year.

The grant from the federal government is just the first stepping stone.
Airport officials will use that money to try and entice airlines to begin negotiations.
When asked about it, Haas would not specify which airlines could come to Latrobe.
“Anybody’s on the table. We got this grant; there could be more players involved. So it’s a wait-and-see game,” Haas said.
He says negotiations with airlines will start soon.
Once airlines are on board, the airport will also need to re-establish TSA.
Over the next several months, they hope to get new security equipment delivered.
