EVANS CITY, Pa. — The case against Nathan Mitchell, a former EMT who had ties to several local youth sports organizations, will head to trial. He’s accused of sexually assaulting minors younger than 13-years-old.

On Wednesday, an alleged victim, a 12-year-old boy, took the stand in magistrate court.

Mitchell did not respond to Channel 11’s questions as he left court Wednesday morning. The judge held all charges against him for trial. Channel 11 broke the news about these allegations in September.

State police said Mitchell inappropriately touched three young boys while they were sleeping over at his house.

One of those boys testified against Mitchell on Wednesday. That boy said he had stayed overnight at Mitchell’s three or four times. He said on two separate occasions, he woke up in the middle of the night because he felt sweaty. He said both times, his pajama pants had been sagging and were pulled below his backside.

He said on both of those occasions, Mitchell had offered the boys a gummy from a Motts’ fruit snack package. But state police said that gummy was melatonin.

The boy told the court that Mitchell would often tickle the boys while he sat on their legs, making it impossible to get away until the tickling stopped.

While trying to question Mitchell after court, a woman who was with Mitchell tried to block Channel 11’s Andrew Havranek from getting video of Mitchell, and said something strange.

“You’re drooling all over yourself,” the woman said.

As 11 Investigates previously reported, these are not the first allegations against Mitchell.

In 2008, when he was known as Joshua Werkman, he pleaded no contest to misdemeanor child molestation in California. He got the case dismissed in 2011 and petitioned for a certificate of rehabilitation and pardon in 2020. TMZ reported on the case, saying he was the manager of two Disney child actors at the time.
