PITTSBURGH — Pittsburgh fire and EMS crews rescued dozens of drivers who became stranded in their vehicles during Thursday’s strong storms.

City officials say more than 30 vehicles became trapped along the Saw Mill Run Boulevard/Route 51 corridor alone.

Swiftwater rescue teams rescued a UPS driver trapped in a flooded underpass on Beechwood Boulevard. The driver was placed in a bot and paddled to safety.
Multiple people became trapped in vehicles on Technology Drive at Bates Street.
Even a boat became disabled during the storm and needed to be towed to safety, officials say.

On Northumberland Street in Squirrel Hill, a driver became trapped in the flooded roadway. Police arrived and helped get them to safety.
Officials say no storm-related injuries have been reported, despite medics taking more than 60 calls.
The city reminds people never to drive or walk into flooded roads.
