Whitehall Fire Company, Station 301

We have been formulating a plan, preparing to be there in case you need us this weekend. With a significant winter storm looming, many of our members have volunteered to staff the station. If they are already there, it means faster response times. Also, it is less dangerous for them if they were traveling to the station from their homes. Be safe, be smart, don’t go out unless you have to!

Monaca

Monaca Residents are asked to remove vehicles if all possible from the street during snow removal for several critical reasons, primarily to allow snow plows to clear roads from curb-to-curb efficiently and safely.

Parked cars in the street can hinder plowing operations, reduce the effectiveness of salting, and prevent emergency vehicles from accessing residential areas.

Key Reasons for Vehicle Removal

Safety and Access:

Unobstructed streets allow police, fire, and ambulance services to reach homes during emergencies.

Efficiency: Plows can make fewer passes and clear roads faster when they do not have to navigate around vehicles.

Effective Clearing: Removing cars allows for snow to be cleared from curb to curb, preventing hazardous, narrow, or icy, half-plowed lanes.

Avoiding Damage: It prevents snow plows from damaging parked cars and vice versa.

Consequences of Not Removing Vehicles

Tips for Residents

Use Driveways: Park in driveways or designated off-street parking areas during a snow emergency.

Do Not Move Immediately: Wait until the street is fully plowed to move your car back to the street.

Remove Other Obstacles: Take down portable basketball hoops, garbage cans, and other items from the roadway.

Don’t Shovel Into Streets: Do not push snow from your driveway onto the street; it is often illegal and creates hazards.

Thank you for helping. A community works as a team during major emergencies.

Snow Storm Reminder – Please keep Lincoln Ave clear

With the upcoming snowstorm, we’d like to remind residents that Lincoln Avenue is a designated Snow Emergency Route. With snowfall projected to exceed 6 or more inches, parking is not permitted along this roadway.

Keeping Lincoln Ave clear allows snow plows to work curb to curb, helping keep traffic moving and improving safety for everyone.

Thank you for your cooperation and for helping us keep our community safe this weekend!
