PennDOT says Route 356 is closed in Butler County because of a downed tree and wires.

The closure is in place between Route 2018/Coal Hollow Road/Sarver Road and Route 228/Sarver Road in Buffalo Township.

The closure is expected to last overnight and the scene will be cleared tomorrow.

The City of Pittsburgh is reminding drivers to practice the four-way stop procedure when they come across traffic lights that are without power.

PennDOT said Noblestown Road is closed between Waker Avenue and Columbia Avenue in Collier Township because of a downed tree and wires.

PennDOT said Commercial Street is closed between Whipple Street and Summset Drive in the City of Pittsburgh until noon tomorrow because of the high winds. Crews are working to secure loose material from the work zone in that area. The Parkway East bridge above the roadway is open.

An Advance Auto Parts sign was blown over and landed on a car on Route 51.

Trees have fallen at schools and parks. A Channel 11 viewer shared a photo of a downed tree at the entrance to Burrell High School and another viewer shared a photo of a tree down at North Park.

A tree fell onto a house on the 1300 block of Ingham Street in Marshall-Shadeland.

A light pole was blown down on the Boulevard of the Allies in Pittsburgh.

Power outages are rising by the thousands in the area. At last check, nearly 70,000 power outages were being worked on.

5:50 p.m.

The Shaler Township Police Department said Vilsack Road is closed as crews make repairs to downed wires and a tree that was blown over.
