CHURCHILL, Pa. — Two new members have been appointed to the Woodland Hills School District Board to fill two vacancies.
Natasha Vandiver and Muriel Fox Alim became the latest board members after a vote on Tuesday night.
Terms for both seats run through the end of the 2027 calendar year.
Vandiver fills the vacancy for Region 2, which includes the communities of Braddock, Edgewood, Rankin and Swissvale. Alim fills the vacancy for Region 3, representing Forest Hills, Braddock Hills, North Braddock and East Pittsburgh.
Before the board voted, many people in the community and the student representative expressed concerns about how the board interviewed candidates.
“It should be a focus that we let this community have a voice in our decisions. Especially given the fact that they are bringing up only three minutes to get to know a person. These people are the people who are taking time out of their nights,” student representative Cayden Bristow said.
Each board new member must take the oath of office within ten days. If they do not, the application process may restart.
Those positions opened up after Terri Lawson and Laura Arthrell resigned last month.

Lawson is accused of spending $10,000 with a credit card belonging to Rankin while she was borough manager.
Director Arthrell left for personal reasons.
The newly appointed directors join board President Vice President Karen Lyons Dr. Cynthia Wallace, Dr. Tamara Allen-Thomas, Ashley Brown, Doneika Griffin, Darnika Reed and Melanie Timbers.
