PITTSBURGH — Two Lawrenceville businesses were burglarized in less than a week.

The owner of Caffe d’ Amore on Butler Street in Lawrenceville tells Channel 11 the person who broke into her business knew what he was doing.

“The waves of realization just kept hitting us. Something happened,” said Sarah Walsh.

Walsh told Channel 11 she believes the person who broke into her business was once a customer and familiar with the café. She thinks the burglar came in through the business next door Sunday night.

“Had gone over to the bookstore side and unlocked that door… to provide a way back into the shop,” she said.

She discovered nearly $1,500 from four cash bags in her office were missing. And she says security cameras are now a necessity.

“It means I have to make it up in basically $3,000 in sales,” she said.

A couple doors down, Full Pint brewpub was broken into last Tuesday night. The owners told Channel 11 their door was kicked in.

Two registers and a safe were taken, and they’re now missing $1,600. The owners there also believe whoever is responsible had once been a customer because they knew where to go.

“I don’t want this to happen to anybody else. It stinks. It really stinks,” Walsh said.
