PITTSBURGH — Pittsburgh Water and Sewer Authority customers could see a stormwater fee added to their water bills in the near future.
Fees would go into a fund for infrastructure projects that reduce runoff before entering the sewer system.

When Channel 11 reached out to PWSA, we were told this is so much bigger than the fee -- it's about safety.
PWSA is in the process of rebuilding Pittsburgh’s stormwater management system to have safe, healthy, flood-prepared neighborhoods.
To do so, residential customers will pay a flat rate for stormwater management. Non-residential customers will pay an amount based on the area on the parcel.
PWSA said the soonest the fee could go into effect is in 2020.
NOTE: An earlier version of this article included comments from a Millvale residents. While PWSA does provide drinking water to the borough, it does not provide stormwater service and as such Millvale residents are not subject to the fee.
