ROCHESTER, Pa. — A Beaver County neighborhood is fighting back against a rash of car break-ins with technology.

Several residents in Rochester have installed security cameras outside their homes after losing property to thieves one too many times.

“It’s a shame that everybody in the neighborhood has to put up cameras to try to stop this kind of behavior,” said Harry Quinn.

Police said thieves hit a four-block area early Wednesday morning, breaking into cars and taking anything inside of value. Residents made it really easy for the thieves – most of the cars were unlocked, police said.

Carolyn Cashdollar has been a victim more than once, so she installed cameras at her house.

"They've gotten in and stolen my kid's book bag and loose change," she said. "I might leave the car for just a second and it's happened."

One woman who captured surveillance video of the suspects told us she just put the cameras up on Sunday.

However, surveillance video from one home captures one of the crimes going down. Three males can be seen approaching. One of them goes directly to a dark SUV and opens it as the other two act as lookouts.

Police say half a dozen incidents have been reported, but they believe there are many more people out there who have not called in. If you’re a victim, or you have any leads on who the thieves are, you’re urged to call police.
