He was arrested early Friday morning after an hours-long search. He’s facing two counts of attempted homicide and aggravated assault charges for this incident.
On Saturday, the Allegheny County Police Department announced that Mitchell was charged with homicide for the stabbing death of Jinx Hairston on Penny Drive in Penn Hills. Penny Drive is the same street where Mitchell’s vehicle, with significant damage to its windshield, was located on Thursday night.

Investigators say, shortly before 6:40 p.m. Thursday, doorbell video captured Mitchell approaching Hairston’s home. A conversation is heard between the two after the victim answers the door, eventually allowing Mitchell inside.
Detectives were also able to pull phone data showing that, around 6:50 p.m., Hairston began missing calls and texts from her daughter.
Hours later, according to the complaint, a family member called a person identified as a witness after Hairston didn’t pick the family member up from cheerleading practice.
The witness eventually discovered Hairston inside her home with multiple stab wounds.
They drove her to a nearby hospital shortly before 9:40 p.m. that evening, where she reportedly died about 20 minutes later.
During the homicide investigation, ACPD investigators also learned of a string of violent incidents on May 7, before and after the homicide, that Mitchell is accused of. Channel 11 already reported on some of the incidents.
