CARNEGIE, Pa. — One of the Pittsburgh area’s most beloved Irish pubs is hoping to reopen in about six months.
More than 100 people packed the empty lot on East Main Street in Carnegie on Friday for a ceremonial groundbreaking.
Owner Joe Riley said his team put out a sign last week sharing the good news, and it spread quickly. It comes 22 months and four days after fire destroyed the former pub, which opened in 1979.

Riley said it’s been a long road to get here and is excited to welcome people back, hopefully in time for St. Patty’s Day 2027.
“We feel that it is attainable. We are going to need some good luck along the way, maybe some mild weather will help, no supply chain issues, but that is the goal,” Riley said.
Riley said the lot will be an active construction zone at this time next week.
