Ohio-based Farmers National enters Pittsburgh

There’s a new Farmers in town. Emclaire Financial Corp. has merged into Farmers National Banc Corp. of Canfield, Ohio, the latter announced on Tuesday.

The deal had been announced last March. Emclaire’s retail arm, known as Farmers National Bank of Emlenton, merged into the Ohio bank’s retail arm, Farmers National Bank.

Farmers (NASDAQ:FMNB) now tops $5 billion in assets and operates 65 branches throughout Ohio and Pennsylvania. Emclaire was based in Emlenton, about 80 miles north of Pittsburgh, but five of its 19 branches were in the 10-county region. Inroads to the city were an attraction to the Ohio bank which, in turn, brings more products and services to its newest customers.
