PITTSBURGH — Light of Life Rescue Mission packed up and began delivering 1,750 boxes filled with pre-packaged Thanksgiving dinners for Pittsburgh families in need Monday.
11 Cares and its partners – 84 Lumber, Clearview Federal Credit Union, Duquesne Light Company and Highmark Wholecare – held a drop-off event this month at Light of Life’s North Avenue location.
“Thanksgiving is the time when families come together. So many of our neighbors are unable to afford a full Thanksgiving meal,” said Light of Life’s Executive Director Rev. Jerrel T. Gilliam. “These 1,750 Thanksgiving Dinner Boxes reach seniors in high-rises and underserved families of four who may not even know about Light of Life. Every box and every meal is served with love and dignity that lets our brothers and sisters know we see them, we love them, and we are a resource to them.”
11 Cares is sponsored by 84 Lumber, Clearview Federal Credit Union, Duquesne Light Company and Gateway Health.
