Local ice cream shops where you can get ice cream for breakfast

PITTSBURGH — Forget the eggs or pancakes! February 6 is National Ice Cream for Breakfast Day. (Or you could put ice cream on your pancakes. 🤷)

Even though it’s winter, there are still plenty of places in Pittsburgh where you can grab some ice cream - maybe not for breakfast - but anytime of the day.

Sarris Old Fashioned Ice Cream Parlor

Sarris doesn’t just sell candy, but ice cream, too! (And they open at 9 a.m. on Saturdays.) You can pick from a variety of flavors, floats and sundaes while adding some homemade toppings, as well. You can get the famous Sarris chocolate hard cap to top off your ice cream.

Millie’s Homemade Ice Cream

If you are willing to settle for ‘breakfast for late lunch,’ Millie’s Homemade Ice Cream opens at 2 p.m. Millie’s has three locations, one in Shadyside, one in Market Square and one in Lawrenceville. Get unique flavors like Vietnamese coffee or pistachio, or try a warm brioche ice cream sandwich at the Shadyside Scoop Shop. No indoor dining.

Klavon’s Ice Cream Parlor

Head down to the Strip District to enjoy some of the outstanding flavors Klavon’s Ice Cream Parlor has to offer. Choose from a sundae, float or even an ice cream soda, whichever you are craving! They open at 1 p.m. on Saturdays.

Dave and Andy’s Homemade Ice Cream

This ice cream parlor offers homemade ice cream with hand-rolled waffle cones. At Dave and Andy’s, you can pick from over 200 flavors. They open at noon on Saturdays.
