The 77th annual Golden Globe Awards are on Sunday with the Hollywood Foreign Press Association honoring the best movies television stars and the best movies and TV shows of 2019 – and Pittsburgh has subtly taken some of the spotlight.
For starters, fashion icon and East Liberty native Billy Porter is nominated in the best actor in a television series (‘Pose’) category.
Then, it is always a beautiful day in the neighborhood when our favorite neighbors get recognized.
Tom Hanks recently portrayed America’s favorite neighbor, Mister Rogers, in “A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood,” that earned him a nomination for best supporting actor in a motion picture for the Pittsburgh-based movie.
“He had that amazing gift of looking at a person and seeing what that person needed.” Tom Junod talks about the article he wrote on Mister Rogers that inspired #ABeautifulDayMovie.
