2 Kids Found In Home During Meth Lab Raid In Apollo

ARMSTRONG COUNTY, Pa.,None — One man is in custody and facing charges after a police raided a suspected methamphetamine lab in Armstrong County early Thursday morning.

Officers wearing protective suits raided the home along North Sixth Street in Apollo at about 6 a.m. The authorities wore the protective suits to prevent skin contact and inhalation dangers from what investigators said was a mid- to high-level meth lab.

According to Armstrong County District Attorney Scott Andreassi, the home served as an active and ongoing meth lab.

"Based on our investigation, we believe this was an active and ongoing meth lab operation on a daily basis and would be characterized as a mid-to high-level meth operation," said Andreassi. "This is the second meth lab raid in three weeks in our county and is the direct result of the investigation that led to the first raid."

During the bust, police said, there were two children in the home, including a 4-year old.

"We had a 4-year-old juvenile who was taken into protective custody and is currently in the custody of Children and Youth Services," Andreassi said.

Following the bust, investigators spent hours carting out all kinds of evidence, including different chemicals and drugs, police said.

Brandon Waterson, 39, was taken into custody.

Andreassi said the house was a cover for the ongoing meth lab. He credited the attorney general's office for lending its clandestine lab task force to help make the bust.

"The investigation is ongoing and we anticipate additional arrests as the investigation goes forward," he said.
