None — Many users of the popular website Craigslist are being victimized by a scam simply by giving out their phone number.
Sellers get a message from a so-called "serious buyer" who is busy at work and can't call them immediately.
According to a report on The Consumerist, the fictional buyer says they use a website to save information and they ask for the seller's phone number so they can call back to arrange a meeting.
The message states, "I'm very interested in your item and would like to pay in cash. Send me your cell phone number here," and lists a website.
Instead of calling you back, they start charging $9.95 a month to your cell phone.
The website has been pulled down, but a lot of people who had advertised on Craigslist fell for the scam and they didn't realize what happened until they took a close look at their wireless phone bills.
