Man who had been panning for gold found dead near creek

ARMSTRONG COUNTY, Pa. — The Armstrong County coroner was called to the Crooked Creek area of Rosston Monday morning, where a man had been panning for gold Sunday night and did not return home.

Channel 11's Steven Fisher reported  33-year-old Jeremy Potocnak of Ford City was found dead by his brother near the creek.

"He was in just a couple inches of water,” said Armstrong County coroner Bryan Myers.

"He was in an accident approximately a year and a half ago,” Myers said.  Potocnak suffered a traumatic brain injury during a motorcycle accident.

Since that time, he had been frequently riding his bicycle to the creek to pan for gold.

Potocnak's bicycle was found nearby.

Foul play was not suspected.
