G20 Protester Cited For New Pittsburgh Protest

PITTSBURGH,None — A Pittsburgh man already on probation for smashing $14,000 worth of windows during protects of the Group of 20 economic summit two years ago has pleaded guilty to summary citations for disorderly conduct and obstructing roads during a gay rights protest in August.

David Japenga, 22, had been jailed since his arrest when police said about 100 people blocked traffic during the Aug. 24 rally organized through social media word of mouth.

Japenga was freed after pleading guilty Thursday and will be sentenced Jan. 17 on the new citations. He'll also face a probation violation hearing that day.

Japenga received six to 18 months in jail for felony criminal mischief during the G20 protests in September 2009.

Japenga said he didn't attend the August rally "to get arrested. I wasn't there to cause any problems."
