Laurel Highlands Fire

ROSS TOWNSHIP, Pa. — One resident was transported to a hospital for smoke-related injuries after a basement fire broke out early today in the Laurel Gardens neighborhood of Ross Township.

Working smoke alarms inside the home alerted the occupants to the blaze.

Emergency crews were dispatched to the residential structure fire shortly after 3 a.m. First responders confirmed an active scene and extinguished a small fire in the basement that had generated heavy smoke throughout the house.

Fire crews remained at the home until approximately 5 a.m. before turning the scene over to the County Fire Marshal for investigation.

Following the emergency effort, the Ross Township Fire Department expressed appreciation for the joint operational response.

“We are grateful to all responding Ross Township departments and our mutual aid partners for their swift and coordinated response,” the Ross Township Fire Department said.

Fire officials also emphasized the role that functioning safety devices played during the early morning incident.

“We want to remind everyone to ensure smoke alarms are installed, working and tested regularly - message us with questions or if you need assistance,” the Ross Township Fire Department said.
