Alston, 19, died Saturday night after he was driven to Magee-Womens Hospital of UPMC with a gunshot wound to his chest, according to authorities.

The vehicle in which Alston was driven to the hospital in had a bullet hole in the front passenger seat, police spokeswoman Sonya Toler said.

Kemp told detectives that he was sitting behind Alston in the car and was trying to adjust the gun in his waistband when it fired through the seat, police said. He admitted to walking across the Roberto Clemente Bridge and throwing the gun in the river.
