WEXFORD, Pa. — Two small business owners in Wexford told Channel 11 News last year during the holiday they were worried they wouldn’t have enough customers walking through their door.
But this year, it’s a new problem. They’re concerned they won’t have enough to sell.
Right now, small retail owners are getting ready for the holiday season including Barb Hollihan at Allison Glen in Wexford.
“It’s the biggest time of year because it is the time you get to actually make a profit, so you have to have the inventory,” said Hollihan.
However, inventory is her biggest challenge this year. She said they are still waiting for about a quarter of their holiday merchandise and here’s what they are missing:
“Wreaths, garlands things that are more mass produced,” said Hollihan.
Luckily, on Friday, a huge shipment was delivered to her store, and she hopes the rest is in within the next three weeks.

Across the street, Mirror Mirror Boutique is also short on its holiday inventory by about 30% which includes women’s clothes and accessories.
The owner said they have a small window to sell these items so it’s frustrating not knowing if they will get there in time.
“Trying to get stock now is increasingly difficult. Most of my vendors are saying it’s been shipped but we can’t tell you exactly when you’re going to get it,” said Amy Sell.
Amy Sell has been out of town shopping for other items to try to fill the gaps in her inventory.
“We’ve had to scramble what’s called fillers to make sure we have enough stock in the store for people to at least to find something to buy,” said Sell.
Both owners said they bought a lot more inventory this year because they expect a higher demand as more families plan holiday parties and gatherings. They just hope their shelves are fully stocked when shoppers hit the stores soon.
Both business owners suggest people shop early this year to make sure they have their gifts in time for the holidays.
