PITTSBURGH — The Aspen Institute, a global nonprofit organization that hosts leadership seminars, policy programs and facilitates open dialogue, and the Richard King Mellon Foundation announced it will be launching its inaugural Aspen Ideas Encore event in Pittsburgh.

Aspen Ideas Encore will be a three-day convening of regional and national leaders, a spinoff of the decades-old Aspen Ideas Festival held every year in Aspen, Colo. The gathering is planned for September 2027 and will bring approximately 800-1,000 participants and nearly 100 local, national and global speakers to Pittsburgh.

“For more than 20 years, the Aspen Ideas Festival has demonstrated the extraordinary things that can happen when we bring people together with curiosity and a willingness to engage seriously with ideas and with one another,” said Interim President and CEO of the Aspen Institute Maria Acebal. “Aspen Ideas Encore gives us an exciting opportunity to carry that tradition into new communities. Pittsburgh — with its history of reinvention, its culture of innovation, and its remarkable civic institutions — is an ideal place to begin.”
