Woman killed after being struck by car, man shot in head found in bordering neighborhood

PITTSBURGH — Pittsburgh Police responded to a ShotSpotter alert this morning that led to finding a woman struck by a car and a man with a gunshot wound to the head.

Police responded to the alert in the 300 block of Minton Street in Pittsburgh’s Sheraden neighborhood around 5:40 a.m.

When officers arrived, they found an unresponsive woman, later identified as 34-year-old Ashley L Roberts by the Allegheny County Medical Examiner, who was pronounced dead at the scene. Early into the investigation, police learned she was hit by a car.

However, the Medical Examiner’s report says Roberts was a “victim of suspected gunshot wound(s).”

Police were then notified of a shooting victim at the Sunoco in Esplen, the neighborhood next to Sheraden.

The male victim, who hasn’t been identified, had a gunshot wound to the head. He said the shooting happened in Sheraden.

Police told Channel 11 that 22 shell casings were found at the scene on Minton Street.

The man is currently at a local hospital in stable condition.

There were no other victims and the investigation is ongoing.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
