A Delta flight returned to Pittsburgh International Airport shortly after departure Thursday.
Delta flight 1504 was bound for Atlanta when the crew reported fumes inside the Boeing 737-900 aircraft, a Delta spokesperson told Channel 11.
Crew members followed safety protocol and declared an emergency with air traffic control.
The flight landed normally and taxied to its gate.
Delta is now working to get customers to their destinations.
“Safety comes before all else, and we apologize to our customers for the delay to their travels,” the spokesperson said.
