Everson Borough Police Department suspended, Pennsylvania State Police to begin covering the area

EVERSON, Pa. — The Everson Borough Police Department has been suspended, with the Pennsylvania State Police taking its place in covering the area.

Information shared by the Everson Borough Council Thursday afternoon said the borough has struggled to maintain a professional police force for several years, citing staffing shortages.

“Recently, staffing shortages left our town with less than 10 hours of local coverage per week out of 168 hours,” a council spokesperson said.

State troopers are now expected to provide coverage in the community 24/7.

The council said they do not expect delays in call times because state troopers have already been handling a vast majority of the calls.

Everson residents are asked to call 911 in an emergency. If a situation is not an emergency, but pertains to police, it can be reported to PSP Belle Vernon at 724-929-6262.
