Pirates prepare PNC Park for baseball with upgrades; Helicopter used to install new scoreboard

PITTSBURGH — PNC Park is getting ready for baseball.

Crews have been installing a new scoreboard and Monday, they brought in a helicopter to lift panels into place.

The new LED scoreboard is one of several improvements in the park. It has more than twice the area of the previous display, according to the Pirates.

Other improvements include fascia ribbon boards, new home plate, field level and dugout LED displays, and the sound system.

Warrendale-based Mitsubishi Electric’s Diamond Vision System oversaw installation of the scoreboard and other displays in the park, which will debut at the Pirates home opener on April 7 against the Chicago White Sox.
