PITTSBURGH — RentHelpPGH, ACTION-Housing and The Pittsburgh Foundation organized One Roof, a two-day regional housing event held Oct. 14 and 15, at Commonwealth Charter Academy in Homestead.

The event connected residents with affordable housing options and financial resources for the future.

The effort comes as housing instability affects thousands of residents across the region. Officials estimate that approximately 14,000 households in Allegheny County face eviction each year.

Organizers previously held a fair in the spring, which officials said served approximately 500 households.

Executive Director of RentHelpPGH, Abby Rae Lacombe, spoke about the widespread challenges families face when trying to keep their homes.

“Housing stabilization is a struggle right now in particular in Allegheny County and across the country,” Lacombe said. “It’s very difficult to afford our day-to-day expenses.”
