ALLEGHENY COUNTY, Pa. — After eight hours of deliberations Monday, jurors acquitted a man charged in the slaying of a McKeesport man and wounding the man’s girlfriend.
Talon Perozich was facing the possibility of a death sentence if he had been convicted. He was accused of breaking into a home on Versailles Avenue in McKeesport in 2013, fatally shooting Brian Cook and wounding his girlfriend, Stephanie Pavlovic.

Prosecutors said the shooting was over a $230 drug debt.
However, the defense raised questions over who else was in the home at the time and challenged Pavlovic, who couldn’t recall who the shooter was.
Following the verdict, defense attorney Lee Rothman told Channel 11's news partners at TribLIVE that it was "very rewarding to hear a jury go from death penalty to not guilty across the board."
