The Steelers made it official on Saturday: they signed a key player on their defense to a new five-year contract.
Defensive tackle Keeanu Benton will reportedly get at least $72 million, making him the highest-paid defensive end in Steelers history.
Benton is the third player from the Steelers’ 2023 draft class to get a new contract. That’s the most for the team since 2011.
If Joey Porter Jr. gets his extension, that will be the most since 2002.
Benton talked about the bond the Class of 2023 shares.
“We kinda made a promise to our class that we were gonna stay close and stay at it,” he said. “I feel like we had to hold each other accountable and it just became contagious.
