Latrobe police investigating ‘serious assault’ of female near St. Clair Street Park

LATROBE, Pa. — Police in Latrobe are searching for a man they say committed a “serious assault” at a city park Thursday.

He’s described as Black or Hispanic in his late teens or early twenties.

“We’re just urging anyone in the area who has cameras to reach out to the Latrobe Police Department if they find anything suspicious on their footage,” Latrobe Police Detective Matthew Reeves said.

Ron Hixson lives next door to the park. He has cameras but didn’t catch anything.

“Kids go over there and play a lot. [I] just didn’t think something like that could happen here,” he said.

Police clock the attack as happening around 11:30 a.m.

“That takes guts, I guess I could say,” Hixson said.

Police are urging vigilance while they search for the attacker.

“They should always be cautious. I don’t feel there’s an immediate danger, but they should always be cautious of their surroundings,” Reeves said.

Police would not elaborate on the condition of the woman due to the ongoing investigation. Hixson told Channel 11 he will buy additional cameras after this incident.
