Local Chinese restaurant deemed out of compliance by state food safety bureau

CRANBERRY TOWNSHIP, Pa. — The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture’s food safety bureau has deemed a local Chinese restaurant out of compliance.

The designation follows a regular inspection conducted Aug. 3, according to the bureau’s website.

The website lists 13 violations that inspectors reportedly observed at House of Chen, located on Brandt Drive in Cranberry Township.

Two violations are noted to be repeats from a July 14 inspection, including refrigerated foods not being date-marked and cleaning needed in the back storage rooms.

Inspectors also reportedly found mouse droppings in a storage closet, as well as a magnetic knife rack and slicer blade guard with food residue.

An inspector notes, “The Person in Charge did not demonstrate adequate knowledge of food safety in this food facility as evidenced by this non-compliant inspection.”
