Long-term lane restriction on Parkway East set to begin Monday night

A long-term lane restriction on westbound Parkway East in Allegheny County is set to begin on Monday night.

The project will restrict traffic between the Monroeville/Plum (Exit 84 A/B) and Penn Hills (Exit 81) interchanges.

PennDOT announced the restrictions, which will impact drivers traveling through Churchill Borough, Wilkins Township, Monroeville and Penn Hills. The maintenance work is designed to seal median barriers along this stretch of highway.

Within the three-lane section of westbound I-376, an around-the-clock lane closure will take effect at 9 p.m. In addition, traffic will be reduced to a single lane as needed each night between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m.

PennDOT reported that mobile rolling lane restrictions may also occur within the two-lane sections of westbound I-376. State officials noted that the restrictions could be lifted earlier if crews complete the work ahead of schedule.

The median barrier sealing project and associated lane restrictions are scheduled to conclude by 5 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 16.
