BETHEL PARK, Pa. — The man accused of assaulting someone dressed as the Easter Bunny faced a judge for the first time.
It’s a story that’s hard to forget. Police said Shivakrishna Bera sexually assaulted the woman dressed as the easter bunny at the South Hills Village Mall.
Channel 11’s Gabriella Deluca was the only local reporter in court as the victim testified this afternoon.
The case against the man accused of sexually assaulting a woman dressed in an Easter Bunny costume at the mall is going to trial.
Today, that woman took the witness stand, where she told the judge she was paralyzed with fear.
Shivakrishna Bera didn’t want to answer our questions as he walked out of his preliminary hearing today at the Bethel Park Magistrate.
Earlier, he was in court listening to a woman tearfully describe the experience she had when police said he groped her.
The woman told the judge that Bera came up to her, grabbed her chest, and asked if she was a boy or a girl.
Security video from the mall was played in court, where you can see a man grab the Easter Bunny’s chest.
Bera’s public defender said her client was just trying to grab the bunny’s bow tie, but the victim said he was touching and grabbing her chest.
When the defense attorney pressed her on why she didn’t try to stop him, the victim said she didn’t want to break character.
A trial date has not yet been set. We will let you know when it is
